so how come an identical plug called 'display port' doesn't work? - So no thanks to Hyper Drive and no thanks to Apple. I was using a 'port' on my laptop for my Apple 'display'. So, although I was angry with HyperDrive, I'm pretty upset with Apple too as it transpires that 'DisplayPort' is different to Thunderbolt 3 even though the plugs are exactly the same.Īnd hey, it' worth looking at my apparent mistake this way. well, that is until I tried to use it and totes didn't work! - I complained to HyperDrive who told me that the slot was actually a 'display port' adapter. I bought a HyperDrivDrive dongle costing £125 and it did have a slot for my Thunderbolt 3 monitor - so I was delighted. (which, please understand is a totally different product to this!) I don't get why HyperDrive and other dongle suppliers don't seem to include Thunderbolt 3 adapters on their range of products.
